About Hollydale Primary School’s Governing Body

School Governors play a vital role in making sure that every child gets the best possible education. The Department for Education expects that, “In all types of schools, governing bodies have a strong focus on three core strategic functions:

a. Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
b. Holding the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the performance management of staff; and
c. Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.” At Hollydale School we have 14 positions on our governing body. Our governing board is made up of:

  • 1 Headteacher
  • 5 parent governors
  • 1 co-opted teacher governor
  • 1 support staff governor
  • 1 Local Authority governor
  • 5 co-opted governors

We meet once every half term as a full governing body. Our Committees meet separately and report back to the Governing Board. They are:

  • School Improvement Oversight Board
  • Attainment and Learning
  • Resources
  • Pupils, Parents and Community
